Friday, Jan 31st 7:30p to 9:00p
At our annual Rothman Scholar Shabbat, we will welcome Professor Marc Dollinger, PhD., to speak after the adult dinner at 7:30. His talk is entitled Laundering Antisemitism: Identity Politics, Ethnic Studies and the University. There will be Q & A after. Dr. Marc Dollinger holds the Richard and Rhoda Goldman Endowed Chair in Jewish Studies and Social Responsibility at San Francisco State University. He is the author of a number of scholarly books on American Jewish history. Our Shabbat service that evening, Shabbat Zimra, is an opportunity to raise our voices in song together to welcome Shabbat. This musical, meditative service features the voices of Shir Shalom, the community chorus of Temple Shalom. Join us for this opportunity to sing freely, breathe deeply, and to be together after a busy week. Easy to learn melodies, no experience necessary. Temple Shalom's Rothman Scholar Program was established in honor of Rabbi Murray Rothman to celebrate his commitment to Social Action & Social Justice. Rabbi Rothman was Temple Shalom's spiritual leader from 1954-1988. His commitment to Social Action and Social Justice is still one of the core values of our congregation. -
