Dear Temple Shalom Members
We want to assure you that the leadership of Temple Shalom is actively monitoring the coronavirus as well as government and public health information sources. We are following the guidelines of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and preparing a contingency plan for our learning programs, staff, and programming in the event of an outbreak of coronavirus in the Boston metropolitan area.
As we write this message there are no confirmed cases among our Temple Shalom families or students. As always, the health and safety of our community is our highest priority. At this time we do not believe there is any immediate health risk and no changes to scheduled services or events are planned. Be aware that public health advisories and health precautions can change with very little notice and we will communicate any changes to you quickly. We are in communication with our local authorities and are monitoring the coronavirus situation. Valuable information about how congregations can prepare was shared by the Union for Reform Judaism yesterday. Resources are also available from the World Health Organization (WHO).
Important steps to keeping our community protected:
- If you or a family member has a fever please do not come to Temple Shalom.
- Consider refraining from even casual contact (hand shakes) to prevent germs from spreading.
- Hand sanitizer is available throughout the Temple building for your convenience. Please feel free to use it.
If you or anyone you love is impacted by this illness, please know the clergy are here to offer support. Be in touch at any time. We continue to pray for health and healing for all of us and all the world.
L'Shalom,
Ellie Goldman, Executive Director
Fred Kraus, Temple President
Rabbi Laura J. Abrasley
